Head of Delivery & Operations

Intervene K-12 | Full-Time | Onsite in Houston, Texas | Significant U.S. and International Travel Required

Build and Run the Operations That Power Student Success

Intervene K-12 is seeking an exceptional, highly resourceful Head of Client Delivery & Operations to build and lead the operating system behind our online, in-person, hybrid, software, hardware, and SaaS-enabled programs.

We are not specifically seeking a traditional education-industry candidate. We are seeking the best operator: someone with the intelligence, curiosity, discipline, urgency, and learning agility to quickly understand education and then build a world-class delivery organization.

The ideal candidate may come from military leadership, engineering, logistics, consulting, healthcare operations, technology implementation, multi-site services, or another complex operating environment. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, process engineering, or continuous improvement is highly valued.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this leader will own client implementation and ongoing service delivery across Intervene K-12’s state, federal, and school-district contracts throughout the United States, with the potential to support international opportunities as the company expands.

This role requires founder-level ownership. If Intervene K-12 closes a complex agreement in another state—or another country—we need someone prepared to get on a plane, understand the environment, determine what must happen, and build the operational plan to deliver successfully.

This is not a desk-based strategy, administrative, or project-coordination position. The successful candidate will personally walk tutoring sites, coordinate physical setups, understand software workflows, manage hardware readiness, troubleshoot launches, engage vendors, diagnose operational failures, and solve problems in real time.

The right person will perform direct work today while building the people, systems, processes, technology, and infrastructure that allow the company to scale tomorrow.

The Operating Environment

Intervene K-12 is a 10-year-old company operating with the urgency, ambition, and growth mentality of a high-growth startup.

The company delivers services and technology through:

  • State-level contracts and publicly funded programs

  • Federal contracts and opportunities

  • School-district and campus partnerships

  • Online tutoring and instructional programs

  • In-person tutoring locations

  • Hybrid instructional models

  • SaaS and technology-enabled education products

  • Software and data platforms

  • Hardware deployments

  • Distributed teams, tutors, facilitators, vendors, and operating partners

  • Emerging domestic and international opportunities

Intervene K-12 is also operating at the edge of education and technology, incorporating AI and automation into its products, services, workflows, reporting, and operating infrastructure.

This environment requires a leader who can bring discipline and repeatability without slowing down the company’s entrepreneurial speed.

The Mission of the Role

The Head of Client Delivery & Operations will become the company’s primary owner of execution.

This person must be capable of taking a signed contract, strategic opportunity, or complex client commitment and answering:

  • What exactly must we deliver?

  • What people, software, hardware, facilities, vendors, and processes are required?

  • What could prevent successful execution?

  • How quickly can we launch?

  • What will it cost?

  • How will we measure performance?

  • How do we solve the immediate challenge?

  • How do we build a repeatable system so the next launch is faster, better, and less expensive?

  • What must be automated, standardized, delegated, or eliminated to achieve scale?

The goal is not merely to manage existing operations. The goal is to build the execution capability that allows Intervene K-12 to pursue and deliver increasingly complex opportunities without depending on the CEO to personally solve every operational challenge.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in operations, implementation, engineering, logistics, service delivery, field operations, consulting, program management, military leadership, or another complex execution environment

  • Demonstrated success personally building, launching, repairing, or scaling an operation

  • Experience taking ambiguous goals and converting them into clear execution plans

  • Experience operating before a complete team, mature infrastructure, or established playbook was available

  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives involving people, technology, vendors, budgets, timelines, and performance requirements

  • Experience implementing or operating software, SaaS, digital platforms, or another technology-enabled service

  • Ability to understand software workflows, configurations, integrations, data requirements, user access, technical dependencies, and support escalations

  • Experience coordinating hardware, equipment, facilities, logistics, vendors, or technical-site readiness

  • Experience managing multi-site, multi-location, distributed, or field-based operations

  • Experience managing contracts, budgets, vendors, service providers, and operational performance

  • Strong quantitative reasoning and ability to use data to diagnose problems, redesign processes, improve quality, and reduce costs

  • Exceptional learning agility and the ability to rapidly understand new industries, regulations, client environments, and operating models

  • Ability to lead Director-level professionals, functional teams, vendors, and external partners

  • Ability to communicate effectively with executives, clients, technical teams, front-line employees, vendors, and community partners

  • High tolerance for ambiguity, changing priorities, incomplete information, and fast-moving opportunities

  • Willingness to perform direct operational work before a complete team is built

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States and internationally, sometimes on short notice

  • Ability to work onsite in Houston, Texas

A traditional education background is not required. Candidates must, however, demonstrate the ability and commitment to quickly learn the requirements of K-12 service delivery, student safety, instructional quality, government contracting, district operations, and education-related performance expectations.

Strongly Preferred Backgrounds and Credentials

We are especially interested in candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Former military officers or senior military operations leaders

  • Engineers who transitioned into operations, general management, or business leadership

  • Engineering, operations, supply-chain, logistics, or technical degrees

  • MBA or another relevant graduate degree

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt

  • Demonstrated experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, process engineering, or continuous-improvement methods

  • Management consulting followed by direct operating experience

  • Experience in technology, SaaS, logistics, healthcare operations, professional services, manufacturing, field services, or multi-site operations

  • Experience launching operations in new markets, states, regions, or countries

  • Experience operating within regulated or government-contracting environments

  • Experience using AI, automation, analytics, or emerging technology to improve operational performance

Education-sector experience may be helpful, but it will not be prioritized over exceptional operating ability, learning agility, leadership, and execution.

The Leadership Profile We Need

The right person will:

  • Think and act like an owner.

  • Bring founder-level urgency and personal accountability.

  • Have the hustle to pursue solutions instead of waiting for instructions.

  • Demonstrate grit when launches become difficult, resources are limited, or plans change.

  • Be intensely resourceful and capable of creating options when the obvious path is blocked.

  • Learn unfamiliar industries, products, technologies, regulations, and operating environments quickly.

  • Use first-principles thinking rather than assuming that existing practices are correct.

  • Move comfortably between strategy and detailed execution.

  • Operate effectively across software, SaaS, AI-enabled workflows, hardware, online programs, and physical sites.

  • Personally investigate problems instead of managing only through presentations and reports.

  • Get on a plane, enter an unfamiliar market, assess the situation, and build an executable plan.

  • Walk into an empty or unfamiliar facility and determine what is required to serve students successfully.

  • Understand a software workflow deeply enough to identify operational dependencies and failure points.

  • Build measurable, repeatable processes using Lean, Six Sigma, or comparable continuous-improvement principles.

  • Make sound decisions quickly without waiting for perfect information.

  • Balance speed, quality, cost, client commitments, student outcomes, and long-term scalability.

  • Perform direct work today while building systems and teams that can take over tomorrow.

  • Remain calm, decisive, and accountable when execution becomes difficult.

  • Take responsibility for outcomes without blaming other departments, limited resources, or incomplete systems.

Success in the First Year

Within the first year, the Head of Client Delivery & Operations will be expected to:

  • Become the company’s accountable leader for implementation and operational delivery.

  • Develop a strong working understanding of Intervene K-12’s clients, contracts, instructional models, software, hardware, and delivery requirements.

  • Take ownership of complex delivery issues currently requiring CEO involvement.

  • Launch online, in-person, hybrid, software, SaaS, and hardware-enabled programs reliably and on schedule.

  • Build standardized implementation, software-launch, hardware-deployment, and physical-site playbooks.

  • Establish clear operational KPIs, dashboards, accountability, and review cadences.

  • Apply continuous-improvement methods to reduce waste, delays, errors, manual work, implementation time, and operating costs.

  • Improve software, hardware, tutor, reporting, support, and site readiness.

  • Build repeatable operating models for state, federal, district, and community-based opportunities.

  • Create the operational capability to enter new states, markets, and potentially international locations.

  • Build the initial implementation and field-operations team required for continued growth.

  • Create an operation capable of supporting significant client and revenue growth without requiring the CEO to personally drive routine execution.
